January 2010 Ogura Clutch THAILAND CO.,LTD. Opening Ceremony | |
The opening ceremony for Ogura Clutch Thailand (OCT) was held on November26th, 2009, and it was attended by more than 100 guests, such as CalsonicKansei Group, the chairman of the Industrial Estate Authority and the Ministry of Commerce of Thailand.
The 40,000 square meter site (the total floor area of the facility is 10,000square meters) is located in Amata City Industrial Estate in Rayong Prefecture, which is approximately 150km south of Bangkok. This new manufacturing facility will be Ogura's largest facility outside of Japan.Its key product will be automotive air conditioning clutches.
The new site will have some the latest high volume high quality production machinery and processes and it is designed to become the leading overseas factory for low production cost and high quality.

October 2005 ITMA Asia 2005 | |
| The Exhibition of International Textile Machinery Manufacturer's Association was held in Singapore from October 17th to the 21st. Ogura shared a booth with Izumi International Co. This show is a world wide exhibition and was previously held at Osaka as OTEMAS every four years.
Next year (2006) it will be held in Peking (CITME), in Munich (ITMA 2007) the year after, and in the United States in 2008.Our display included a feedback tension control device and a TOP1000 simulated creel device among others. The demo devices working with carbon fiber and large materials as well as the wide-variation high-tension detector drew much attention. We sincerely thank everyone for visiting our booth.

Ogura exhibited at the Security & Safety Trade Expo at the Tokyo Big Site from October 19th to the 21st.
This show concentrated on crime prevention, disaster prevention, and risk management, and is the first comprehensive crisis management trade show for Japan.
Ogura displayed a safety airbag designed for firefighters to protect them in case they fall from a rooftop or a ladder, a handheld hydraulic multi-cutter which was vital in the rescue effort for the Amagasaki train accident, and an in-taxi isolation airbag to protect cab drivers from robbery by keeping the robber at bay. The Kansai Mechanical Components & Materials Technology Expo was held at Intex Osaka from October 12th to the 14th.
With “environmentally friendly motion control” as the theme, we exhibited our industrial clutches and brakes with the environmentally friendly AM-E series as the symbol product, tension control products, oil mist separators, superchargers, and ORC products. The ORC Ladies' product presentations and games using tension control devices were very popular as well. During the exhibit, as many as 630 people visited our booth.

2005 New PM Hysteresis Torque Controller PHT-D Series | |
In order to satisfy the industry's requirements, three new double-type PM Hysteresis torque controller models (0.02D, 0.05D, 0.5D) were added to the PHT-D lineup. These new products are compact and easy to install, and they also have improved low-inertia and anti-rust characteristics. Sales of these new units will begin mid-September.
With these three new models and six existing (1.2D ~ 70D), we have expanded the double-type PHT series lineup to a total of nine models, allowing for a wider variety of usage conditions and configurations.

2005 Certification of Green Activity from Canon Corporation | |
On August 5th, Ogura was certified for Green Activity by Canon Corp. as per the environmental control activity required by the Green Procurement Survey Standardization Initiative.
This certificate represents a positive evaluation of the system, and we will continue to work towards properly executing and fully implementing this system for environmental control.
Naturally, as with quality, cost, and delivery, we actively seek to improve environmental preservation and aim to provide products that fulfill our customers' needs.

The 11th Shanghai International Textile Industry Exhibition was held in Shanghai from June 3rd to the 7th, and we displayed and demonstrated our tension control products at the Izumi International booth. This year's show had over 130,000 visitors from 24 countries. Many of the participants were from countries where the textile industry is currently flourishing, mainly China, India, and Pakistan.
Recently, the Chinese textile business has developed to a global-scale industry and is also a large market for textile machinery. At the show, we held a booth in the Japanese/European exhibition hall for textile machinery related manufacturers. We displayed and demonstrated our newly developed computer-controlled system featuring an ATT/ATI (TOP1000) type tensioning unit designed for the manufacturing processes of glass fiber for printed circuit boards. Designed to overcome the disadvantages of normal engines and boost Toyota's sporty image, our emissions regulations-compliant superchargers will be installed on the Corolla TS at TMG Germany (Toyota Motorsport GmbH). Sales will begin in 2005 in limited quantities.
For an 1800cc vehicle, the naturally-aspirated engine spec is 192HP/180Nm whereas the supercharged engine spec is 225HP/230Nm, which is a tremendous improvement.

On April 11th, we held the opening ceremony of Ogura Clutch (Wuxi), our second facility in China located in the high-tech industrial development district in Jiangsu Province. Approximately 130 people including Wuxi representatives, customers and local suppliers participated in the ceremony.
Ogura Clutch (Wuxi) is the 7th international facility and the first office abroad to primarily handle manufacturing and sales of industrial clutches and brakes.
The elevator industry has been constantly expanding over the past several years due to increasing demands for high-rise building construction and is expected to continue to grow. International manufacturing companies consider China to be the global supplier of elevator components and have requested that we supply the brakes. We will begin production and supply with drum brakes for the elevator winding system and servo motor brakes.
In the future, we can expect to see increased demand in robots and other automated equipment from the advancement of China's technology industry, and we plan to continue to manufacture clutches and brakes with globally competitive performance and quality.

On April 5th, Ogura and our distributor Toyo Clutch were presented with the 2005 Appreciation Award for Excellence by Keihin Corp. This is our 4th consecutive award, and we take it as a sign of our deep mutual relationship.
We will continue to work towards improving quality, cost, delivery, and engineering to provide the products and services that satisfy our customers.

Certification of CMS from Ricoh Corporation | |
On January 13th, Ogura was certified for CMS (chemical substance management system) by Ricoh Corp. This CMS certification approves suppliers who have chemical substance management systems in place that enable the production of safe, environmentally friendly components. Among the qualified 888 suppliers, Ogura was one of 24 model companies that were the first to be approved. We will continue to improve our environmental management system to provide environmentally friendly products that fulfill our customers' needs.

Tokyo Auto Salon 2005 | |
The Tokyo Auto Salon was held at Makuhari Messe from January 14th to the 16th. At our booth we displayed the new 559 series twin-plate clutches (550HP), the popular carbon clutch series (single/twin-plate), metal single/twin/triple-plate clutches, and a supercharged Hummer H2 concept vehicle among others.
Our main event was the pro-driver talk show which is always popular, and the 2005 ORC Racing Ladies debuted at this show. We also had calendars, stickers, sweatshirts, T-shirts, etc. on sale at special prices in our merchandise corner.

60 Million Micro Clutches Sold | |
In December 2004, approximately 16 years after its introduction in 1989, total sales of the micro clutch series (MIC type) in the domestic (Japan) and Chinese markets have reached 60 million units. These MIC clutches are used in all kinds of office automation systems. Due to their compact size, light weight, high responsiveness, outstanding life, and customizability with wide product variation, they have been very popular since their introduction to the market with consistent sales growth.
We will continue to develop and supply products that match the needs of our customers.
