Ogura exhibits at Tokyo International Fire and Safety Exhibition 2023, held from June 15^th (Thursday) to 18^th (Sunday) at Tokyo Big Sight. TIFSE is the largest trade show, held once every 5 years, hosted by Tokyo Fire Department, focuses on fire and safety equipment. Ogura is going to showcase various new equipment such as the primary products, Fire hose Washer that is designed with the labor saving concept in mind and rechargeable electric-hydraulic life-saving tool, Ogura RP series that is being actively used at many rescue scenes.

This year LEAP (Leadership in Engineering Achievement Program) Awards were announced by WTWH Media on October 18, 2022.  Ogura received the Silver Award in the Mechanical category for the MCNB-HS series brakes.  This year’s winners were chosen by an independent judging panel of 14 engineering and academic professionals. The MCNB-HS Series power-off spring applied brakes have oversized bores to allow wires to pass through the shaft’s hollow bore. They accommodate encoders, cables, hoses, shafts, and tools. The ratio of the brake’s field core diameter to outer diameter is leading the industry. Internal designs allow for reduced backlash, high cycling, long life, optimized torque per size, thin profile, low weight, limited drag, low heat generation, and low power requirements. Reduced backlash is important for precision and accuracy. Special attention is made to supply stable performance and response during total life for high-cycle applications. Torque is optimized to provide a smaller package size and lower weight. The thin profiles give an advantage where space constraints are tight. Low power requirements reduce energy consumption and limit heat generation.

Ogura exhibited at Tokyo Auto Salon 2023, held from January 13th (Friday) to 15th (Sunday) at Makuhari Messe after 3 years of absence.

Among the products Ogura showcased were metal twin clutch developed for Toyota Yaris, 5 motorcycle slipper clutches for Kawasaki, Honda and Suzuki and skeleton type clutch case that was developed as the original product for Ogura Racing Clutch.

As in the previous years, Ogura hosted a talk show. Guests were drivers who participated in various races such as Inter Proto Series, Toyota GAZ00 Racing Rally Challenge, GR86/BRZ Cup and ORC Rookie Racing that participated in Super Endurance Race. The most notable among the guests was the Driver Morizo (a.k.a. president of Toyota Motor Corporation, Mr. Akio Toyoda). The show attracted many attendees.

At Ogura’s booth, 2 automobiles and 1 motorcycle were displayed: GR Yaris that ran in Toyota GAZ00 Racing Rally Challenge, GR Corolla Morizo Edition and Yamaha YZF-R1 that raced in last year’s Suzuka 8 Hours.

Ogura’s motorcycle team, Ogura Clutch ORC with Ride In, announced the races that they are going to participate in 2023, and the members expressed their enthusiasm for the upcoming season.

Ogura’s subsidiary in New Jersey, USA, Ogura Industrial Corporation exhibited at Equipment Exposition (aka. Lawn mower show) held in Louisville, Kentucky from October 19^th to 21^st. This is the biggest trade show in North America for outdoor power equipment, such as riding lawn mower, and it is a festive event for lawn care industry, even accompanied by live music concert.

At its indoor booth, Ogura showcased various electromagnetic clutches and brakes. With multiple large flat screen TVs in the booth, clutch functions and designs were explained and demonstrated to the attendees. Ogura also exhibited at outdoor booth a “Monster Mower,” shown in the photo below, which attracted the attention of many attendees.

The show was as busy as it was before the pandemic. Thank you for everyone who came to our booth.

One of Ogura’s very important customers, Stiga held their 2022 Supplier Conference at Guangzhou Nansha Garden Hotel in China on August 26th.

Approximately 60 suppliers, including engine makers, flywheel makers and cardboard box makers attended. Among them was Ogura’s subsidiary, Ogura Clutch Dounguan, which was nominated to be one of the superior suppliers for its quality activities for noise abatement and won an Excellent Quality Activity Award. This award is only given to suppliers that have achieved excellence in Stiga’s rigorous supplier evaluation system.

It is honorable to have received this award, and Ogura would like to raise the bar for ourselves in our effort to satisfy the customer’s needs.

On June 29th, starting from 10Am at Kiryu Chamber of Commerce K-BIC (Kiryu Business Intelligence Convention) Hall, the 93rd stock holders meeting was held. The result of business and the consolidated financial numbers were reported for the 93rd fiscal year (April 1st, 2021 to March 31st, 2022) as well as the report by the accounting auditor.
Further, disposal of surplus, partial amendment of articles of incorporation, appointment of 6 new directors and presenting severance pay to retired directors were discussed and approved.

Ogura showcased its products at 27th, M-TECH show, held between June 22nd and 24th at Tokyo Big Site.

Along with Ogura’s primary product group, industrial clutches and brakes, new products and demonstration machines were also exhibited. Among them were spring actuated brakes with a real time remaining life monitor system and another spring actuated brakes specialized for a large hallow shaft. The latter has the largest ID to OD ratio in the industry. The show was well attended.

Tokyo Seiko Co., Ltd., Sansen, Co., Ltd., and Sunaga Seiko Denshi (Dongguan) Co., Ltd. have become members of the Group and have continued their initial trade name even after joining the group. This time, the Group has changed the trade names of the three companies to Ogura Reikan Tanzo, Co., Ltd., Ogura Denshi, Co., Ltd., and Ogura Seiko Denshi (Dongguan), Co., Ltd.

We will continue to carry out manufacturing of products at each company, and will meet the expectations of our customers with a new determination.

Ogura Industrial Corporation, a U.S. subsidiary of Ogura Clutch, Ltd. exhibited at GIE+EXPO 2021 trade show (A.K.A. Lawn Mower Show). This trade show is the largest of its kind in North America that showcases various Outdoor Power Equipment. Most of Ogura Industrial’s main customers exhibit at this show to showcase their riding lawn mowers on which Ogura’s GT clutches are used to engage and disengage blades that cut the grass. The scale of this market is known to be over 30 billion dollars. It is one of the major industries in the U.S., which is growing every year.

Many lawn mower makers set up outdoor booths as well so that attendees can test ride their lawn mowers. The show also attracts many dealers from all over the country and regular consumers from the local area. Some of the booths offer free drinks and even live music, creating a festive atmosphere throughout the show.

Ogura Industrial exhibits at this show every year and showcases various electromagnetic clutches and brakes. In addition to the indoor booth, it set up an outdoor booth to display the “Monster Mower,” which was designed and built by a lawn mower racer whom it sponsors.

The show was unfortunately cancelled last year due to Corvid, so this year, it was very busy with many attendees who seemed very eager to get back to some normalcy.
