On July 14, Ogura Corporation in Michigan, USA received the 2020 Achievement Award from MACI. This award is given to suppliers who have made outstanding achievements in quality, price, and delivery.

This time, OC was ranked first among 30 suppliers, so it is very meaningful and honorable, and it is the result of achieving zero defects, low cost, and on-time delivery.

We received a letter and a certificate from MACI. The letter expressed deep gratitude to all OC employees. We are proud of this award and will continue to strive for further production activities.

On July 13th, Ogura Industrial Corporation in New Jersey, USA was awarded the Supplier of the Year award from their main customer, Bad Boy.

Bad Boy is a major manufacturer of commercial lawn mowers, and our electromagnetic clutches and brakes are used to drive and stop the lawn mower blades (blades are used for mowing lawn). Electromagnetic clutches and brakes are manufactured by our plant in China, Ogura Clutch Dongguan Co., Ltd.

This award is a great honor as only one company among many is selected by Bad Boy.

The world’s first hydrogen engine from the team “Rookie Racing” was used at the “NAPAC Fuji Super Tec 24 Hour Race” held at Fuji Speedway from May 21st-22nd.
The race vehicle is a modified Corolla Sport which burns compressed hydrogen to power a turbocharged 1.6 liter in-line three cylinder engine.
Among the professional drivers was Mr. Toyota “Morizo”, President of Toyota Motor Corporation who also took the wheel for a portion of the race to further promote the hydrogen engine.  The Corolla Sport was fitted with the Ogura carbon fiber reinforced GR clutch.  This is the same clutch that has been adopted by Toyota as an option on GR Yaris OEM vehicles and was also used in the GR Yaris in last year’s Fuji 24 Hour Race, that helped win the championship. It is a great honor to be involved in this historic vehicle with the world’s first hydrogen race engine.  Ogura will continue to learn from the data gathered during this race to further improve clutch products.

At JTEKT Corporation supplier conference was held on the web on April 21st, 2021. In his speech, the president of JTEKT, Mr. Sato gave the words of appreciation to the suppliers that with their help, the company was able to close the fiscal year 2020 without major production incidents, despite the pandemic and more than the usual number of natural disasters during the year. At the award ceremony after the conference, Toyo Clutch (Ogura’s group company) received VE/VA award. It is their recognition of our effort to reduce the cost and enhance competitiveness by transferring production of some products to China. Ogura is committed to continue improving Quality, Cost and Delivery.

On March 25th, 2021, three officials from the department of industrial promotion of the city of Midori visited Ogura No. 3 plant to award Ogura the letter of appreciation for being a major economic contributor for the city. The letter was acknowledgement of Ogura’s sustained business with Sato Seiki, Ogura’s supplier located in the city of Midori, which contributed the economic development of the city. Ogura will continue improving its engineering capabilities and product quality as well as delivery and care for the environment in order to be part of the economic development of the city of Midori.

We regret to say that we have decided not to exhibit at “TOKYO AUTO SALON 2021” scheduled for January 15th (Friday) – 17th (Sunday), 2021.

The number of people infected with the new coronavirus is declining little by little, but the situation remains highly unpredictable. Ogura came to this decision because we must give priority to the safety of employees, their families, and related parties. Thank you for your understanding.

We will continue developing aftermarket, including motor sports, and hope that all the customers who have been visiting our booth and cooperating with us, will continue to support Ogura (ORC, ARUGOS).

The reinforced metal clutch and clutch cover set developed by Ogura has been adopted by OEM as an optional part /GR part of the GR Yaris which was newly released by Toyota Motor Corporation on September 4th.
Since 1998, Ogura has been developing, manufacturing and selling reinforced clutches for racing vehicles and tuning vehicles under the name of ORC (Ogura Racing Clutch), and this technology and experience have been recognized by Toyota Motor Corporation, and led to adoption by OEM.
From September 4th to 6th, the opening NAPAC Fuji SUPER TEC 24 hours Race of the Pirelli Super Taikyu Series 2020 was held. Pirelli Super Taikyu Series 2020 is an endurance race using production vehicles and held at Fuji Speedway.
GR Yaris (entrant name: ROOKIE Racing) which participated in this 24-hour endurance race also used a reinforced metal clutch & clutch cover set, and it achieved pole-to-win in qualifying 1st place / final 1st place in the debut race. The durability and reliability of the clutch have been proved even in the harsh 24 hours endurance race.
OEM adopted GR Reinforced Metal Clutch & Clutch Cover Set will be sold as GR parts at GR Garage nationwide, which is a Toyota dealer.

On September 5th and 6th, 2020, the opening NAPAC Fuji SUPER TEC 24 Hours Race of the Pirelli Super Taikyu Series 2020 was held at Fuji Speedway.
Ogura’s president, Mr. Ogura participated as a driver in the racing team ROOKIE Racing of the team of Toyota Motors Corporation’s president, Mr. Toyoda (driver name: Morizo). ROOKIE Racing participated in the race with two cars, GR Yaris and GR Supra, and Mr. Ogura held the steering wheel of GR Supra and performed a solid run for the team.
Two cars, GR Yaris and GR Supra, made their debut at the same time, but each won the first place in the class (pole position) in the qualifying, and won the championship in its class after hot 24 hours battle in the final.
It is a great honor to be involved as Ogura Clutch Co., Ltd. at the historic moment when the two cars won the double win in the debut race.
President Ogura and all the staff will do their best in the next round, the Sugo Round, which will be held on October 10th and 11th.

Recently, four of our Chinese affiliated companies (Ogura Clutch (Dongguan) Co., Ltd., Ogura Clutch (Wuxi) Co., Ltd., Ogura Clutch (Changxing) Co., Ltd., and Sunaga Precision Electronics (Dongguan) Co., Ltd.) have released a Chinese version of the homepage in response to globalization. 　From July 3rd to July 7th the Bangkok International Auto Salon 2019, the custom car event, was held at the Impact Challenger Hall in Bangkok, Thailand and Ogura took part for the fourth time. We exhibited two products, racing clutch ORC and carbon fiber reinforced Arugos clutch for import cars.

　This year again, we had our pamphlets and exhibition panels translated into the Thai language, which allowed us to better show the features of our products to the visitors. Also, by displaying the features of each product on a panel along with the clutch, we could explain them in an easy-to-understand manner.

　Our company also installed monitors on the front and back of the booth where we showed the video with the description of the clutches and Ogura’s participation in the motor sport. Many visitors stopped by Ogura booth to watch the video.
